In a significant step towards promoting road safety, the Nagpur City Police Road Safety Department, in collaboration with RJ Nisha and 92.7 Big FM, organized a two-day Traffic Awareness Workshop. The event was spearheaded by the Rotary Club of Nagpur North
(RCNN) and its Rotaractors and aimed to educate citizens on responsible driving and road
safety measures.

Day 1 was an interactive session at the Anjuman College of Engineering & Technology,
featuring Mr. Atul Agarkar from the Road Safety Branch of Nagpur City Police. He addressed
the students and faculty, emphasizing the importance of obeying traffic rules and the dire
consequences of negligence on the road. The session encouraged participants to adopt safer
driving habits and promote awareness within their communities.

On the second day, attendees experienced real-life traffic scenarios in a unique 92.7-minute
challenge hosted by Big FM. Participants, along with traffic police officials, visited key traffic
junctions, including Jhansi Rani Square, Variety Square, Freedom Park Square, and Zero Mile
Square, RBI Square, Kingsway T Point, Railway T Point and Mayo Square to observe and
analyze daily traffic issues first hand. This immersive experience highlighted common
violations and the impact of reckless driving on road safety.

The event concluded with a review session at the Police Headquarters Auditorium, where
Commissioner of Police Dr. Ravindra Kumar Singhal shared insights on road safety challenges
and applauded the participants for their commitment to making Nagpur’s roads safer.

Colleges participating in the initiative included Dhanwate National College, Dada Ramchand
Bakhru Sindhu Mahavidyalaya, Anjuman College of Engineering & Technology, National Fire
Service College, and Punjabrao Deshmukh Institute of Management Technology & Research.
Their active involvement reflected the growing consciousness among youth regarding traffic
regulations.

“This initiative is a vital step toward reducing road accidents and ensuring safer commutes for
everyone,” remarked Commissioner Singhal. The RCNN’s efforts were met with high
appreciation, reinforcing their ongoing commitment to community welfare and road safety
awareness.

Commissioner of Police appreciated the initiative and assured continued support for such
programs. RCNN extends gratitude to all participants for their dedication and looks forward
to future projects aimed at making Nagpur’s roads safer for all.
