The Rotary Club of Nagpur North is a respected and active club in Rotary International District 3030. It was started in January 1987 under the leadership of Late D.G. Gopalani. The club received its official charter from Rotary International on 15th June 1987. Since then, the club has worked hard to serve the community and build a strong reputation among other clubs.

In its first year, the club faced a big loss when its founder and first president, Dada Gopalani, passed away. Even though this was a sad moment, the members stayed strong and decided to carry on his dream of creating a well-respected and active Rotary Club. Over the past 38 years, the club has been involved in many meaningful service projects that have helped people in many ways.

One of the club’s major achievements came in 1998-99, when it received over $23,500 through the Children Opportunities Grant. This money was used to help street children and provide food to poor students. In 2000-01, the club completed its first matching grant project by repairing an orphanage called Rahul Bal Sadan and setting up an eye hospital to prevent avoidable blindness. Later, in 2012-13, the club built a new eye ward at Mure Memorial Hospital, spending Rs. 26 lakhs on the project.

The club has also played a key role in leadership within District 3030. In 2005-06, Rtn. Madhu Rughwani became the club’s first District Governor. In 2012-13, Rtn. Sanjay Meshram became the second. Many members have served as District Secretaries, Assistant Governors, and Chairpersons. The club is especially proud that PDG Madhu Rughwani also served as Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator (RRFC) from 2016-2017.
